Information received from RAF Weston on Night Parachuting

RAF Weston-on-the-Green has scheduled night parachuting exercises using the Airbus A400M Atlas aircraft at low level following successful daytime trials.

Published: 1 January 2025

I wrote to you last month to outline the planned programme of events over RAF Weston-on-the-Green to trial and train our Airborne Forces from the Airbus A400m Atlas. I am pleased to report that the day trials were a complete success, and thank you for your support and understanding.

The trials and training for the UKs spearhead Airborne Forces has now moved into a night parachuting phase. To that end, the Airbus A400m Atlas will be flying over RAF WotG at low level (approx. 1000ft) on the following dates/times:

  • Thu 27 March 25 – 1930-2030
  • Fri 28 March 25 – 1930-2030 (Reserve day should weather force cancellation on the 27th).

Can I ask that the information contained within this email is shared widely within your parishes where possible, in an attempt to minimise impact on the local community.

Please note that these timings will be adhered to where possible, but weather and or daylight hours may force the sorties later into the evening to ensure this crucial operational task is completed.”
