Oxfordshire County Council Consultation: B430 (Weston-on-the-Green) proposed 30mph & 40mph speed limits

Oxfordshire County Council is consulting on a proposal to reduce the speed limit on the B430 Northampton Road through Weston-on-the-Green from 40mph to 30mph.

Published: 20 June 2025

OCC are asking for your views on the proposal to reduce the existing 40mph speed limit on the B430 Northampton Road (including the section to the A34 southbound slip road) to 30mph, as well as on those remaining residential roads within the village. There will be no extra signage on the lanes to indicate their speed limit as 30mph. As is the current situation their speed limit will be same as the B430 and therefore no new signage is required.

Additionally, the existing 40mph on the B430 Northampton Road adjacent to the RAF airfield will be extended southwards to meet the proposed 30mph speed limit and also extended further northwards by an additional 200 metres – replacing the existing 60mph National speed limit in the process.

The proposals have been put forward following the implementation of a 20mph speed limit within Weston-on-the-Green in May 2021, with further road safety concerns having been raised – specifically regarding the speed of traffic travelling through the village. In light of this, please find the following documents attached:

The proposal details are available to view on the Councils consultation portal at the address below:

As stated on the notice, any objections or other representations on the proposals should be submitted by 5pm, Friday 20th June 2025.
